A delegation of 9 members of the Dutch Parliament came to visit DDWS on May 9th as part of their China tour. DDWS CEO and Founder Giel Groothuis gave a presentation about the challenges and successes of our incubator model, and how it has helped Dutch designers expand their business in the Chinese market. The delegation expressed interest in DDWS's success story during the evening's question and answer session, and were enthusiastic about the business model's potential to help other creative professionals expand their companies overseas.
DDWS had the pleasure of cooperating with Computer Arts Magazine and Chois Publishing during the Computer Arts Forum in Jingan. Housed in Zaha Hadid's latest Shanghai interior space in the SOHO China building, the event's theme of Design Management brought together some of Shanghai's best and brightest designers to discuss their varying experiences with digital design. Our Dutch Design in China Yearbooks were distributed to a large audience of attendees, in addition to one of our participants 1-10design who spoke on how to catalyze interactivity in people using innovative programming methods.
Dutch Design on the Move (DDOTM) is kicking off it's 2013 tour with the Wuxi International Industrial Design Expo on May 24th 2013. With the support of the Wuxi Municipal Government and the International Design Association (IDA), DDOTM will feature the best of 10 Dutch Designers through our standard exhibition format for guests of the expo. IDA has also sponsored a keynote speaker from Dutch design firm Springtime who will present his latest works and design innovations to expo-goers in Wuxi. In light of the explosive growth of China's 2nd and 3rd tier cities, DDWS has set its sites on helping foreign creative indsutries expand their influence in these massive markets. Looking for a way to test your ideas for a new business venture? Join DDWS for Startup Canvas, an interactive group exercise that hones your entrepreneurial skills. A group of 30 will be split into teams of 10 and given different roles in simulated companies that will be put through a series of challenges in order to develop and refine a given business plan. At the end, the teams will present the fruits of their labor to eachother and an audience which will be followed by casual drinks and networking on our terrace.

Studio 63 is an international architecture and design studio whose partners have worked for many years in architectural design in various disciplines. These areas of expertise range from interior design, product design, and exhibition design (commercial spaces, hospitality, residential, health and wellness bars, restaurants, retail and office design), to art direction and design consulting for companies operating in the furniture and fashion industries. This new mask is no longer conceals but transforms the part of the face it is hiding, integrating face and mask. The very sterile looking white gauze mask inspired us to make something more cheerful and funny which would still serve its purpose. Currently there are 15 types of masks, with depictions that vary from animal or human features to zippers. Customized masks are also available, such as the mask for the Hanshin Tigers.
