Grand Design: MVRDV Vertical Village
Differences between cities’ outlooks are closely related to its history, local culture, social environment and living habit. However, these factors are rarely taken into account by existing architectures spread around our cities. Does that mean in the future we will only have template buildings? According to the Dutch architecture firm MVRDV, the original outlook of many Asian cities are rapidly replaced by template buildings, the phenomenon of which is called ‘Block Attack’ by MVRDV. What will our cities be like in the future? Maybe these is a solution to stop our cities from being attacked meantime meeting the growing residential demands. Together with The Why Factory, MVRDV proposes the concept of “The Vertical Village”.
In the 2012 January issue of Grand Design, Dutch architecture firm MVRDV is talking about future vertical village with the readers.
